We work with the country’s leading ecologists to deliver species-rich living walls that help restore nature in cities and tackle the growing biodiversity crisis.
Our native wildflower and grass meadow living walls are designed to enhance biodiversity in cities. Temporary installations ensure continuity of biodiversity during construction, creating a bridge between pre-development and post-completion, and both permanent and temporary installations provide ‘stepping stones’ of nature across the city.
We have assessed Vertical Meadow and consider it to be an innovative, flower rich and structurally diverse habitat which would make a valuable contribution to national biodiversity programmes.

Responding to an environmental crisis
Meadows and species-rich grasslands now cover less than 1% of the UK, with 97% lost in less than a century. In May 2019 the UK Government declared an Environment and Climate Change emergency, with the Construction Industry Council recognising the built environment as a major contributor to the breakdown of biodiversity. Nature is disappearing at an alarming rate.

expert partners
Working in collaboration with experts from The Wildlife Trusts, Buglife and Nigel Dunnett, an ecologist who has led planting designs for high-profile public spaces such as The Barbican, the London Olympic Park and Buckingham Palace, Vertical Meadow has been designed to use customisable, species-rich native wild grass and wildflower seed mixes that provide a haven for pollinators, insects, birds and butterflies. Grown from seed on site, the resulting plants are hardy and long-lasting. Whether for hoarding, scaffolding or a permanent façade, our systems work with nature and natural cycles to provide year-round support for biodiversity.
Any site, temporary or permanent, can display a “Wild Sites” plaque to promote the work being done to support biodiversity. Approved by the Wildlife Trusts and Buglife (the Invertebrate Conservation Trust) for the positive biodiversity benefit Vertical Meadow brings beyond alternative living wall systems, it provides a clear demonstration of corporate responsibility to the public. Our Vertical Meadow Wrap for construction sites also generates credits under the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which in turn supports BREEAM accreditation.
