Parliament Square — the green space opposite the Houses of Parliament — has long been one of the UK’s most symbolic sites of public demonstration. Yet recent restrictions have left it eerily silent: a dead zone. The square has never been more than a tightly managed monoculture of grass. We want to give it back to the ‘silent’ Londoners, our natural world, by transforming it into a native wildflower meadow. A guaranteed peaceful protest – for nature.

Restoring nature here is vital. If it remains out of sight, it will remain out of mind — and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer. Nature provides us with everything we need and love. To truly value and protect it, we must be able to connect with it. A rewilded Parliament Square would create a new habitat for wildlife in the heart of London. It would also act as a powerful symbol to the country and to any visitors, that Great Britain places it’s most important asset, the natural world at the centre of what it does.

It would also act as a constant reminder to those in power that nature will thrive in the most unusual places and encourage them to seek out the missed opportunities that are everywhere around the country.

We urge the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority to act now. Sign the petition to support the rewilding of Parliament Square Gardens and help bring life, beauty, and a renewed connection to nature.
