Nature supported by technology
from seed on
Standard construction techniques
Growing plants from seed in place means no costs associated with the growing and transportation of live plants to the site. A simple inspection app used by the site team, remote monitoring by Vertical Meadow and one or two annual cuts, plus minimal maintenance costs.
Easy to install
Each of our systems has been designed with knowledge of the construction industry. Materials and fixing methods are standard and can be easily installed by the site team or existing contractors, rather than a specialist installer. No live plants greatly simplify installation logistics.
Easy to maintain
Our systems grow and change with the seasons, just like meadows and parkland, and only require one or two annual cuts. Basic monitoring can be undertaken by the site team as part of their daily rounds using a simple inspection app, and Vertical Meadow monitors weather, power and water supply remotely, making adjustments and sending alerts as required.
Growing plants from seed in place means none of the carbon emissions associated with growing plants in greenhouses and shipping them to the site (usually from overseas) in plastic pots. Materials have been selected to be reusable, recycled, recyclable or biodegradable where possible, and we’re always seeking to make improvements. We minimise packaging and even deliver to the site by bicycle in London.
We believe there’s joy to be had in watching plants grow from seed, and change and evolve with the seasons. Our walls have a natural aesthetic, just like real nature. We can also print bespoke text, and patterns on the front layer of our systems so that you can communicate a message even before the plants take hold.
Safe and reliable
Our systems have been designed with the fire safety front of mind. We use non-combustible materials wherever possible and each system has been tested by Warrington Fire to British and European standards. Plants dying can be a worry, but site inspections and detailed remote monitoring ensure that we spot and resolve any potential issues quickly. Many successful installations mean we know exactly what to look out for.
Designed for site hoardings and scaffolding, there’s nothing quite like our patented system on the market. Simply affix the mat, attach the pre-installed pipes to an irrigation system and water supply, and turn on. Installed by the site team with guidance from us, no specialist installation is required, and we also provide a monitoring service. Turn your construction site into something remarkable that your neighbours will love.
A simple and unique approach to bring nature into your projects with real impact
Our patented and revolutionary rainscreen facade greening solution follows our principles of growing from seed, being construction-friendly and requiring minimal maintenance. It has been designed by our team of facade engineers and horticultural experts and will help developers and local authorities to meet Biodiversity Net Gain.
A complete rethink to other living wall systems on the market
We are currently working with an Out of Home (OOH) media partners to deliver our patented systems across the country. We are always on the lookout for new ways to bring biodiversity in our cities and are keen to apply our technology and knowledge in new ways. If you have an idea or bespoke application you would like us to explore, we would love to hear from you - please do get in touch.
A clean initial aesthetic with patterns and text as you wish.
The first shoots are clearly visible up close, and the wall begins to look green from a distance.
Plants begin to establish and are visible all over from a distance.
Plants grow thick and start to flower, and the backing disappears completely.
